Rugby League and speciifclly the Saints were a huge part of Joe’s life.  

we were raised on bedtime stories of Tommy Vollenhoven and Dick Huddart, Alex Murphy and Vinty Karalius.

When we were old enough we went with him to watch both home and away. Rugby was a central topic of conversation with friends and family and though loyalties were split with some misguided family members( you know who you are Brian And John), it never interfered with friendship nor affection. We wven converted some and built the group who came with us to watch.

We had many memorable trips to wembley and even Paris to watch his beloved Saints. We always felt party of the rugby league family.
